Tyneside heroes Lindisfarne break Ropetackle box office records!

Folk-rockers Lindisfarne broke Ropetackle box-office records this month when tickets for their 2023 show in November sold out in record time!

The announcement went out at 11am on Friday 27th January in an email to Friends and Patrons and then went on General Sale on the Monday. The show sold out in under a week – the fastest time ever for a music act.

The pioneering musicians celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2020 and have made regular appearances at Ropetackle since the venue opened in 2007. They have always been a popular booking, thanks to their timeless tunes (Run for Home, Meet Me on the Corner, Fog on the Tyne and Lady Eleanor, to name just four!) and wonderful stage presence.

Today’s Lindisfarne is comprised of a classic five-piece line-up of long-time members fronted by founder member Rod Clements on vocals, mandolin, fiddle and slide guitar. For their 2023 tour, Lindisfarne recall a memorable period of live shows focused on the 1977 release of live LP Magic in The Air.

On hearing the news, Rod said: “Lindisfarne are delighted to be returning to the Ropetackle, which we know from previous visits to be a friendly and well-run venue with a fabulous audience thrown in! It’s great to know that our music is so much appreciated on the south coast. You’re doing a great job of supporting live entertainment and we’re proud to be part of that – see you in November!”

Lindisfarne 2023 are: Rod Clements (1969-present) vocal, mandolin, fiddle, guitars; Dave Hull-Denholm (1994-present) vocal, guitars; Steve Daggett (1986-present) vocal, keyboards, guitars; Ian Thomson (1995-present) bass, vocal; Paul Smith drums
