About this event
Join trumpeter Chris Coull as he brings his quintet to Ropetackle, featuring UK saxophone legend Tim Whitehead, for an evening of modern jazz. The band explores the evolution of the music—from the birth of bebop to the West Coast “Cool School” sound and the golden era of Blue Note in the 1950s and ’60s.
The quintet also features Mark Edwards (piano), Paul Whitten (bass), and Joe Edwards (drums).
Chris previously spent 15 years in Qatar as Director of Doha Jazz. For the past decade he has been based in Brighton, where his playful bebop style continues to delight audiences across the South East.
“A beautiful, lyrical trumpet player who embraces the great musical lineage of jazz.”
— Dominick Farinacci, international jazz trumpeter
