Ropetackle: Where Family Fun Takes Centre Stage

Clean, spacious and welcoming, with a dedicated children’s play area in the café, Ropetackle Arts Centre has become a popular destination for family outings in Adur and the surrounding area. We’re proud to host toddler film screenings once a month, interactive storytelling with music every two weeks and a programme of live shows on weekends and during school holidays.

Staff and volunteers greet visitors with a friendly welcome, helping to create an environment where children can feel safe, relaxed and curious. For many families, Ropetackle offers an accessible and low-stress day out.

The venue is easy to reach by bus or train, with free parking available nearby, and stair-free access throughout the building. The on-site Rose Petal Café serves a full lunch menu, alongside cakes, coffees, ice creams and other treats for families to enjoy before or after a performance.

“Ropetackle works with professional performers, puppet-makers and storytellers to create new worlds and bring them to life,” says centre manager Lorna Price.

“It’s important to broaden children’s horizons and help them make connections. The atmosphere here is particularly suited to families with younger children because it’s friendly and relaxed.”

During performances, children can sit on mats close to the stage for a more immersive experience. It’s no wonder families come back again and again once they’ve discovered the exciting array of kids’ events on offer, right on their doorstep.

So what’s coming up?

WiFi Wars | Friday 8th May | 7pm

After a brilliant run last year, WiFi Wars returns with the live comedy game show where everyone plays along! Log in with your smartphone or tablet and compete in a range of games, puzzles and quizzes to win the show, and prizes!

Hosted by comedian Steve McNeil (team captain on UK TV’s hit comedy/gaming show ‘Dara O’Briain’s Go 8 Bit’) and aided by Guinness World-Record-Breaking tech whizz, the award-winning Rob Sedgebeer, this is great FUN for ages 7-18 (and adults!)

Little Folk Ceilidh | Saturday 9th May | 2.30pm

With live folk music from Spriggan, bringing together Irish, English, Scottish and Eastern European traditions, this is a lively, welcoming introduction to the magic of folk music and dance.

Children are gently guided through simple ceilidh dances, no experience needed, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the live music. Great for all the family.
