The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025) Kaouther Ben Hania
Gaza, January 29, 2024. Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 6-year old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. Her name was Hind Rajab. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to the car’s location. As the tragic events of the day unfold, Ben Hania’s devastating film recounts the story behind the heartbreaking outcome.
Gathering audio from actual phone conversations, this is an urgent and compassionate portrait of an avoidable tragedy, featuring the filmmaker’s characteristic blend of documentary and fiction. The film had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in September 2025, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and received a 24 minute standing ovation.
