Geno Washington, the legendary soul man from Evansville, Indiana, first hit the UK in the 1960s with the US Air Force—and soon set the British music scene alight. His explosive love of Blues and Soul took him from jamming in Ipswich to tearing up London’s iconic Flamingo Club with Georgie Fame and Zoot Money.
Fronting the powerhouse Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, he became the hottest live act in Britain, packing venues and outshining global stars. Their chart-topping albums Hand Clappin’ Foot Stompin’ Funky Butt Live and Hipsters, Flipsters and Finger Poppin’ Daddies cemented his place as the true King of Soul.
Celebrated by Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ smash hit “Geno,” his influence endures. Today, with Geno and the Yo Yo’s, he delivers blistering R&B, Blues, and Soul sets that ignite every crowd.
