About this event
Shoreham Port was established by an Act of Parliament in 1760 and has been operating as a Trust Port ever since. Today the Port is central to the regional economy, stimulating trade and growth across Sussex and beyond. We are delighted to be welcoming Tom Willis, the Port’s Chief Executive back to Ropetackle to provide an update on major projects and developments at the Port.
Tom will focus on trade, growth, and the next era of short sea shipping, what cargo comes through the Port and what is its destination. What will the next generation of shipping involve?
Tom will be joined by Sussex University lecturer Geoffrey Mead, a well-known local historian and geographer, who will provide a fascinating insight into the history of the Port’s trade, looking back at the vessels of previous eras, and the cargo they carried.
