The theme this year is “All Change”, and Wordfest will be exploring significant changes following the end of World War 1 reflected through arts and literature. Also, change for women, then and now, with Jenni Murray’s new book: A History of the World in 21 Women and Kate Adie’s Fighting on the Home Front.
Peter Owen-Jones returns for a musing on environmental change and our response to this. Poet Ian McMillan shares his humorous and witty take on life and all it throws at us.
We have drama about the lost days when Agatha Christie went missing, while Brighton Shakespeare Company perform the timeless classic: Romeo and Juliet.
There is family fun with children’s theatre shows, picture books and creative writing. Part of the Wordfest mission is to stimulate and celebrate local creativity, and we start with a series of writing workshops in September, followed by an open mic performance for those who want to showcase their work.
There are talks and events, books, films and lots of music and poetry, including the launch of Attila the Stockbroker’s band Barnstormer 1649’s new album and two firebrand performance poets: Greg Byron and Stephen James-Smith.
A fantastic feast awaits and we look forward to enjoying it with you all
