The fun, the songs, the slapstick, the costumes, the set, the Dame’s wigs…these bewitching ingredients of a Shoreham Panto have become a staple of Christmas festivities for many families and friends.
And for Christmas 2023, this winning formula attracted the highest audience numbers in the Panto’s 11-year history with more than 6,000 tickets sold! Oh yes, it did!
With a staggering 41 performances over two weeks, the talented Panto cast did a sterling job of entertaining everyone, but the audience members also performed well when it came to giving generously.
More than £3000 in total was collected by bucket donations at the end of each show and the money divided equally between the Fire Fighters Charity, War Child and local homeless charity, Turning Tides.
On hearing the news, Turning Tides’ community fundraiser Sue Harris said: “Homelessness is increasing and it is at Christmas, when people are with their families, in their nice warm homes, that they tend to think more about those less fortunate.
“We are so thankful to Ropetackle and the audiences at the Christmas Panto for their generous donations. It is a lovely gesture and will really make a difference.”
