Julian Nicholas coordinates the South Coast Jazz Festival ‘Youth In Jazz’ celebration,
combining ‘Jazz For Juniors’ – now in its fourth year – with new initiative ‘Jazz In Schools’. ‘Youth In Jazz’ brings together two workshop series teaching students aged 13-17 about rhythm, improvisation and jazz composition. Toby Carpenter’s trio are working at Sir Robert Woodard School and Julian Nicholas at Steyning Grammar School and Varndean College. New Participants and those from previous years are also welcome.

The workshops will culminate in a combined public performance of music composed and arranged with the students, taking place in the Ropetackle auditorium on Saturday 27th January at 1.30pm.
