Local and Live presents: “Haul Away Joe!” feat. Chris Hare and the Duck Pond Sailors

Join us for a night of bawdy tunes and tales from Sussex’s celebrated ‘Duck Pond Sailors’ who will regale you with shanties, sea songs and other popular ditties from the 18th and 19th centuries.
These are all songs that would have been sung on the boats and wharves, and in the pubs of Shoreham port and town.
One of the “sailors”, Chris Hare, historian of our local past and folklore, will talk about the songs along with other “crew” members.
It’s an evening that’s sure to shiver your timbers!

This event was originally scheduled for 6th November 2020 and billed as Chris Hare: The Bonfire Boys. Tickets for that date remain valid.

Part of the Local and Live mini-festival, a joint initiative between Ropetackle Arts Centre and Shoreham Wordfest, to celebrate the creativity of local writers, musicians, actors and poets and the return to live performance.

LOCAL AND LIVE FESTIVAL PASS: Enjoy 10 events* for just £60. Discount applied at the checkout.  *Excludes: The Noise Next Door and A Christmas Carol.
