About this event
Imagine a future where the Sussex seascape is once again teeming with life. Bluefin tuna, lobsters, oysters, kelp and seagrass restored.
Sustainable fishing and tourism working in harmony with nature.
With vital habitats and species lost over the last two hundred years from overfishing, pollution and now climate change, marine and river life has been decimated. But, in recent years, remarkable work has begun to bring nature back.
In this talk, Paul Brewer, Director of Sustainability & Resources at Adur & Worthing Councils, will explore how Sussex Bay is forming as both a place and a vision for a better future. Paul will explain the work underway by the Sussex Bay team to develop a seascape recovery blueprint, and generate funding for brilliant projects into the future. He will ask how we might mobilise communities, businesses and young people to create a thriving and harmonious future for people and planet in Sussex Bay, the ‘blue mirror to the South Downs.’
Sussex Bay encompasses the sea, coast and rivers along 100 miles of Sussex coastline, from Selsey in the West, to Camber Sands in the East.
