“Rocket fuelled groove jazz” ~ Jazz FM
J-Sonics is a six-piece collective who have emerged over recent years as one of London’s hottest groove-driven jazz bands.
J-Sonics features some of London’s finest musicians – all solo artists in their own right – but all collaborating within J-Sonics’ exciting mix of memorable originals and re-tooled jazz, Brazilian, Afro and rare-groove tunes.
Alec Dankworth Spanish Accents
“Dankworth’s playing has a captivating bounce, his own themes gently personal, yet deeply rooted in the idiom. And the resourceful Phil Robson plays Spanish guitar as if raised on it.” ~ John Fordham, The Guardian
Alec Dankworth’s long-standing love of all things Spanish provide the inspiration for this group. Metheny, Corea, even Rodrigo are reinvented alongside traditional folk songs and originals in flamenco rhythms creating a wonderful and authentic Spanish sound.
The band features the beautiful voice of daughter Emily Dankworth and a heady mix of top British musicians – saxophonist Mark Lockheart, Chris Garrick’s gorgeous violin, and Alec Dankworth’s bass interweave with the genuinely Spanish drumwork of Demi Garcia and guitar of Phil Robson to complete this unusual line-up.
