Silas and Ethel Woodlock have retired to the seaside, but are distracted by herring gulls. Journalist Stephen Osmer is writing a provocative essay about social justice and a diatribe about two people called Nicholas Royle. Lily Lynch is pursuing more than her art project about ‘cinematic intentions’…

Nicholas Royle, professor of English Literature at Sussex University, reads from his new novel, described as combining a page-turning story about literary theft, adultery and ambition with a poetic and moving investigation into our relationship to birds and the environment.

“A compelling investigation of the nature of writing and the writing of nature. I ended it moved in ways I could not explain.” ~ Robert Macfarlane

This event takes place in the Ropetackle mezzanine.
