Thrilling, chilling, side-splitting – it's the perfect ghostly treat for Halloween season.
In 1840, Thomas Ingoldsby, of Tappington Manor, Kent, inherited a trunk full of antique manuscripts detailing numerous strange stories – tales of saints and spectres, monsters and witches, smuggling, robbery, murder and revenge. They were written in rollicking, colourful, rumbustious verse, and seemed to be utterly fantastical, but don’t be misled – every single word of them was true. Or his name wasn’t Thomas Ingoldsby.
For one night only, Ropetackle Storytellers hosts The Foundry Group – the award-winning company behind OffFEST 2023 Nominee 'Who Is No. 1?' and OffFEST 2022 Winner 'Underdogs' – as they bring the best-loved of these legends to grisly, ghoulish, hilarious life.
Ropetackle Storytellers is Shoreham's local storytelling club, celebrating myth, legend, folklore, and the best in spoken word performance. Hosted by seasoned storytellers Joshua Crisp and Amelia Ace Armande, they have welcomed big storytelling names from across the UK and beyond, including award-winners Tim Ralphs, Xanthe Gresham, Katy Cawkwell, the 2023 Step Up Commission Winner Karin Lundengärd, and tradition-bearer and Drut'syla Shonaleigh Cumbers.
