A rare opportunity to learn from one of the most powerful vocalists of today. Admired by audiences and artists alike for over two decades, Carleen has worked with a who’s who of the music industry, from Paul McCartney to Paul Weller, Johnny Cash to Nigel Kennedy. She has also been a seminal member of several taste-maker bands including the Young Disciples and The Brand New Heavies.
Her career is full of accolades; she has performed for the Queen, been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize (as part of Young Disciples), won Jazz FM ‘Vocalist Of The Year’ 2013, presented the BBC Jazz Awards, been nominated for a BRIT Award, and in 2017 received Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM Lifetime Achievement Award.
To top things off, Carleen has a wealth of experience teaching music as former Head Of Vocals at BIMM Brighton.
Carleen’s masterclass at Ropetackle looks ahead to a performance of her newest work ‘Cage Street Memorial’, which will be coming to Ropetackle in 2018.
This event takes place in the Ropetackle mezzanine. Space is limited so book early.
