Opera Film: Aida

Ropetackle presents a special screening of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida by Opus Arte, a hugely enjoyable opera with terrific spectacles, rousing choruses, intense passion and good tunes.
Filmed in high-definition at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, Daniela Dessì, Elisabetta Fiorillo, Fabio Armiliato, Juan Pons and Roberto Scandiuzzi lead the cast in the renowned period production, filmed in 2003 against the historic paper trompe-l’oeil sets painted between 1936-45 by Josep Mestres Cabanes, the last representative of the old Catalan school of scenography.
The evening will feature a short pre-performance talk and a free glass of bubbly.
In a change to the usual format, please do not bring picnics. Instead, Lesley’s Kitchen will be serving delicious pre-show meals from 6pm which you can book.
Approx. timings: Talk: 6.50pm. First half: 7pm-8.30pm. 20mins interval. Second half: 8.50pm-10.10pm.
