Local and Live presents: Notorious Women of Brighton with Louise Peskett
This event was originally scheduled for 8th November. Tickets bought for that date remain valid.
Louise Peskett is a tour-guide and the creator of the popular ‘Notorious Women of Brighton’ women’s history walks. She has now written Fierce and Fabulous: A Journey Around Brighton and Hove’s Women’s History.
Louise will share some of the stories she has found, including the first British woman to swim the Channel, an African princess, a Soviet spy-cum-antiques dealer, a woman who started a rogue all-woman police force, and the brilliant doctor whose story is so shocking, the British Army tried to repress it for 100 years.
Discover fierce and fabulous women who all, in their own ways, changed the world.
Part of the Local and Live mini-festival, a joint initiative between Ropetackle Arts Centre and Shoreham Wordfest, to celebrate the creativity of local writers, musicians, actors and poets and the return to live performance.
LOCAL AND LIVE FESTIVAL PASS: Enjoy 10 events* for just £60. Discount applied at the checkout. *Excludes: The Noise Next Door and The Snow Queen.
