Alain de Botton: The Course Of Love

‘Told with great wit and affection… It should be compulsory reading for anyone tying the knot’ ~ Daily Mail

‘It may even save some marriages’ ~ Evening Standard

This is the love story of Rabih and Kirsten. This is the love story of you. This is the love story that will save your relationship.

Rabih and Kirsten meet, fall in love, get married. Society tells us this is the end of the story. In fact, it is only the beginning.

Over the years, this ordinary couple will miscommunicate and misunderstand each other, will worry about money, will have first a girl and then a boy. One of them will have an affair, one will think about it. Both will have doubts. This is the real story of love.

With his trademark warmth and wit, Alain de Botton explores the complex landscape of a modern relationship, examining what it might mean to love, to be loved – and to stay in love.

Alain de Botton was born in Zurich in 1969. He is the bestselling author of non-fiction such as The Consolations Of Philosophy and The Art Of Travel, and novels including Essays In Love. He lives in London and runs The School Of Life.

Presented by City Books. This special evening will include a reading, Q&A and book signing.
