John Crace & Steve Bell: I, Maybot – The Rise & Fall
Tuesday 21st November 2017 -
The Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer John Crace launches his new book: I, Maybot
I, Maybot is essential and hysterically funny reading for anyone trying to make sense of this crazy political year.
Throughout 2017 John Crace, the Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer, has watched Prime Minister Theresa May’s efforts to remain strong and stable – and indeed Prime Minister. He coined the term Maybot in response to her malfunctioning public appearances. And now in this edited collection of his unremittingly witty sketches, he tells the full story of Theresa May’s turbulent first year in Westminster.
“The Maybot is rebooted as strong and humble. Stumble for short.”
John is joined by the Guardian’s principle political cartoonist Steve Bell for what promises to be a gloriously riotous evening. Steve is the creator of the long running ‘If’ cartoon strip which features every day in the newspaper. The cartoons have been made into bestselling books. The latest of which is ‘If – The Graphic Novel’. He has made a career out of lampooning politicians.
Presented by City Books. This special evening will include a reading, Q&A and book signing.
