Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra

Friday 25th May 2018 - Starts 8pm

A very special concert will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra, founded in Brighton in 1968. The Orchestra specialises in recreating the jazz and hot danceband music of the 1920’s and 1930’s with characteristic drive, wit and visual appeal.

For many years Harry Strutters pulled in the crowds at various local venues…its long-lasting Sunday residency at the Shoreham Airport Restaurant was immensely popular. Since then the Orchestra has featured at top venues and Festivals across the UK, Europe and Scandinavia, appearing on TV in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark. Its spectacular show, Swinging at the Cotton Club – a collaboration with the Lindy Hop Dance Company – is currently proving a big success at festivals and theatres throughout the UK.

This celebratory concert will present several outstanding musicians, as well as featuring a guest appearance by founder member Jim Heath with his legendary No Fishing puppet show and other manic cameos.

In addition, there will be a virtuoso tap dance performance by Lee Payne, formerly of Riverdance. It will be an action-packed concert with a huge helping of fun and nostalgia.

Come along and remember the good times!
