Free Jazz Afternoon
Over the last decade Ropetackle has built a sizeable jazz following, boosted in recent years by the success of the annual South Coast Jazz Festival which we have hosted since its inception. The final weekend of our celebrations notably features two nights of eclectic jazz; Courtney Pine on the Saturday, and Claire Martin OBE with the Julian Nicholas Band on the Sunday.
To celebrate the significant role of jazz in Ropetackle’s story, we’ve invited a range of local musicians to host an afternoon of free, enjoyable jazz.
To start off the jam we have the wonderful Three Penny Piece singing well known vintage songs of the past and modern pop songs of recent decades. Following them is local group Jazzmin playing a set of jazz standards that everyone will enjoy. Renowned local musician Mark Bassey will also be performing with members of the Ropetackle Friday jazz workshop. Bring along your instruments and you too can join in (singers welcome)!
