Bandleader and trumpeter Chris Coull hosts a relaxing series of Sunday morning jazz concerts.
Taking place on the first Sunday of the month, Chris will be joined by a talented local band and special guest musicians, performing a entertaining and varied show each month.
Sun 3 March – Ela Southgate’s Summer Samba
Ela Southgate is joined by her partner, guitarist Matt Wall to sing and play luscious Latin jazz arrangements and Bossa nova in the Jobim vein. The group are joined by host Chris Coull (flugel horn), George Trebar (double bass),and Angus Bishop on drums and percussion for sumptuous renditions of the jazz music of South America.
Sun 7 April – Sam Carelse/Jason Henson Ensemble
Since bursting onto the jazz scene relatively recently, Sam Carelse has made waves with her string influences from Anita O’Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Annie Ross. She is joined by partner Jason Henson, a guitar virtuoso and gypsy jazz/swing specialist, host Chris Coull (trumpet), Rhys Lovell (double bass), and Joe Edwards (drums).

The bar will be open serving teas, coffees, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, plus pastries will be available to purchase.
Chris Coull has played with and led bands throughout the world, including 15 years as Director of Doha Jazz in Qatar. Melodic and thoughtful, his approach takes inspiration from classic 50s and 60s players. He has performed many times at Ropetackle, including his own shows celebrating Miles Davis and Duke Ellington.
