About this event
Join trumpeter and band leader Chris Coull in a celebration one of music’s most celebrated eras; The Blue Note recording label – modern jazz’s golden era of the 1960s.
With an all star Sussex line-up of Andy Panayi (saxophones), Mark Bassey (trombone), Terry Seabrook (piano), Paul Whitten (double bass) and Joe Edwards (drums), Chris has faithfully transcribed gems from John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard, Art Blakey, Hank Mobley, Joe Henderson et al.
Andy Panayi has performed and recorded with Shirley Bassey, Jessye Norman, Paul McCartney, Seth MacFarlane, Elaine Paige, Salena Jones, Elvis Costello, Georgie Fame, Peter Skellen, to name a few.
Jazz trombonist Mark Bassey has been described as a superb, witty player and has been involved with jazz education for over 30 years, at Royal Academy, Trinity College and the Jamey Aebersold jazz summer school.
Chris Coull has led many bands since moving to Sussex 10 years ago, including The Rebirth Octet (playing the music of Miles Davis), The Chris Coull Big Band (and its tribute to Duke Ellington) and this Blue Note Sextet.
