Bird in the Belly + support
Sunday 20th October 2019 - Starts 8pm
TICKET PRICE: £10
Bird in the Belly is a Brighton folk group consisting of Shoreham-bred folk-duo Hickory Signals (Laura Ward and Adam Ronchetti), alt-folk singer-songwriter Jinnwoo (Ben Webb), and multi-instrumentalist and producer Tom Pryor.
Together they have collected little-known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK, and set them to their own “hypnotically original compositions” (fRoots). Their sound is raw and bare-boned with “distinctively contemporary and earthy vocalising” (R2 Magazine) harking back to the folk revival sound of the 1960s.
Their debut album The Crowing (2018) was met with critical acclaim across the board, with The Sunday Express calling it “Folk Album of the Year★★★★★”. The group is back with their much anticipated second album Neighbours and Sisters, which they will be launching to their local following at Ropetackle.
Support is from The Knight’s Project – intricate, precise and mysterious twin-guitar folk from coastal England.
