Excellent November Barnstormers Comedy show in prospect at the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea

It’s November, it’s dark, and there’s a temproray reprieve in relation to the various political goings-on. A fine time then, to seek a temporary distraction in the form of a comedic shot-in-the-arm courtesy of Barnstormers Comedy.

As ever, longstanding Barnstormers Comedy MC Kevin Precious (pictured)   will be on hand to introduce three more top acts from the London Comedy Comedy Circuit and beyond. This month, they comprise: salt-of-the-earth raconteur and storyteller Barry Castagnola, ‘So confident in the delivery of his material…you’ve got to admire his no-frills approach’ – The Stage; the acerbic young fogey that is Paul McCaffrey, ‘He has charm, charisma and success written all over him’ – Evening Standard; and hilariously put-upon ageing New Age dad Marc Lucero, “Lucero certainly has the comic instincts and high-quality material that would shame many a more successful act.” – Chortle.

Barry Castagnola

Over the last few years, Barry has established himself as an extremely accomplished comic performer, writer and actor. As well as performing stand up on the UK and International comedy circuits, he has created, appeared on and written for numerous television projects.

He appeared in the Christmas episode of Greg Davies’s sitcom Man Down (Channel 4) and recently Barry has created and performed a variety of comedy characters for new television shows – The Secret Interview (TwoFour Productions for Channel 5), Eye Spy (Objective for Channel 4) and Dom Joly’s primetime ITV show, Fool Britannia. He was also a regular cast member of the MTV comedy Flash Prank.

He was a writer for Ask Rhod Gilbert (BBC1) played the CEO in Office Party at The Pleasance Theatre in Islington, is a regular co-host on The Rhod Gilbert Radio Show (BBCWales) and is the co-host of the topical podcast The Proper Gander.

He has performed stand up on The Comedy Store Live (Comedy Central), The Stand Up Show (BBC1), Jongleurs Live (was a regular on Christian O’Connell’s Sunday Service and film quiz Popcorn (SKYONE) and also appeared in Comedy Shuffle (BBC3) and Comedy Cuts (ITV2).

Barry was the creator and one third of the spoof eco-warrior dance-music act Cyderdelic (with Marc Wootton and Liam Woodman). After two critically acclaimed Edinburgh shows (‘Fantastically innovative and astonishingly funny.’ ***** The List) and a stint on The 11O’Clock Show, Cyderdelic won the inaugural BBC2 Green Light Award for comedy, the prize for which was a one-off programme for the channel. This was then developed into a six-part series for BBC3. Cyderdelic: The Revolution Will Be Televised.

In 2011 Paul took his debut solo stand-up show, Saying Something Stupid to the Underbelly, to great critical acclaim, having previously appeared as part of the Big Value Comedy Show and the AAA Stand-Up Show at The Pleasance.

Paul has been heard on Russell Kane’s Whistle-Stop Tour (BBC Radio 2) and is a regular guest on The Matt Forde Show (talkSPORT). He has also done studio warm-up for The Morgana Show (Channel 4) and That Sunday Night Show (ITV 1) and can currently be seen at some of the best comedy clubs in the country.

As well as which, Paul has appeared in the stand-up spot on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and is currently involved in a new entertainment show being developed by Yalli Productions for BBC3.
