African Night Fever Presents: Reggae Party
Friday 29th September 2017 - Starts 8pm
TICKET PRICE: £12.50
Reggae, rum, rice n’ peas!
African Night Fever returns with an evening of sunshine happiness from the sounds and tastes of Jamaica and the Caribbean, featuring formidable reggae band FOWOKAN. Enjoy lovers rock reggae, roots rock reggae and dance hall, all under one roof from these masters of music!
Forged from their time together in pioneering 70s funk/soul band Cymande, FOWOKAN re-unites core members Sam Kelly (drums) with international reggae artist Jimmy Lindsay. Jimmy gained chart success with his superlative re-workings of the Commodores’ ‘Easy’ and Bill Withers’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’. Jamaican born Sam Kelly has a long legacy working with the likes of Chaka Khan, Eddie Floyd, Robert Plant and Gary Moore. Highly respected for his playing ability across several genres including reggae, RNB, soul, jazz and funk, Sam has won many awards throughout his long career.
Come prepared to party, have fun and be irie (“alright”) on the dance floor with the flow of rum, sizzling jerk chicken, and skanking reggae beats all night.
Please note, Jimmy Lindsay has had to pull out due to health reasons; in his place will be the brilliant TJ “Holyboy” Johnson.
With delicious Afro-Caribbean food also on sale from Cummin Up chefs. Limited seating.
Standing room only now. £12.50 advance, £15 on the door.
