African Night Fever Presents: Dobet Gnahore

Saturday 13th April 2019 - Starts 8pm

We’re delighted to bring you beautiful sounds and mesmerising moves from Dobet Gnahore, courtesy of the African Night Fever crew.

Grammy Award-winner and Radio 3 World Music nominee Gnahore is hailed as one of the freshest talents in new African music. She sings in seven languages and embraces a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from her native Ivorian ziglibiti, West African mandingka melodies and those further afield, such as Congolese rumba and Cameronian bikouts.

Gnahore’s stage presence radiates unbelievable style and energy accompanied with mesmerising acrobactic dancing. The songs on her new album MIZIKI were torn from the depths of this open courageous and intensely  feminine African. A student at Abidjan’s Ki Yi M’bock, like Youssou N’Dour, Salif Keita and Ray Lema,  she has become an internationally-acclaimed voice and someone the Guardian has described as “WOMAD’s best act”.

She says “I want to make people dream” – so come and share that dream!
