Granny Pearl: A Magical Tale of the Sea

Thursday 29th August 2019 - Starts 11am

Spending time with Granny Pearl is always magical with her tales of the sea and this summer holiday we’re off to visit her down by the seaside. There’s always been something fishy about her and on a special boat trip along the coast with the family, we’ll hear the story of this special granny with a secret…

This interactive performance mixing live guitar, song and crafts is for anyone who loves the sea, stories and surprises!

Suitable for ages 3 yrs and up.

Magical, mysterious and with a sense of humour, Granny Pearl is splashing into Ropetackle this August. Brought to life for very young audiences, the story is a performance full of music, song, stories and surprises. The one-hour theatre show is based on a song by singer songwriter, Jenny Lockyer, who runs all sorts of experiences for children and young people. The performance features original songs, live music and puppetry

Jenny has been running activities for children and young people for over twenty years working in children’s centres, special and mainstream schools, play centres, museums and libraries. She’s been performing her own songs since 2003, with Granny Pearl being one of the first she ever wrote. This performance is inspired by that song but also by the work she’s been doing with young children in Storytime and Music Time sessions in her home town of Croydon. ‘Granny Pearl- A Magical Tale of the Sea!’ is set to bring the different elements of Jenny’s work together in an exciting brand new show for young audiences.
