Community Meals Appeal – Thank you!

Before Christmas, we launched an appeal for funds to help support families and individuals in need in our community with food and meals. We raised £6,126.68, including Gift Aid, which far exceeded our expectations.

With the money, and working closely with Lesley, from Lesley’s Kitchen (who kindly organised the cooking and has given her time free-of-charge), we were able to cook and distribute 330 two-course meals to the following organisations over the winter period.

Turning Tides
Adur Gateway Hub
Adur Community Gate
Worthing Community House

All these meals have been eaten, and we started working again a couple of weeks ago to replenish stocks.

As well as cooking meals, we have given groceries to the Shoreham Food Bank and contributed to vouchers for Emergency food over the Christmas period. As we wanted to find as many ways as possible to support the community, we have teamed up with local shop “Ginger and Dobbs” to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to Worthing Community House in East Worthing, and Adur Gateway Hub in Fishersgate. Both projects are receiving a free weekly delivery from Ginger and Dobbs.

We intend to carry on cooking and donating food until the money runs out.

All of this has been made possible due to the generosity of those who donated to our Meals Appeal – so on behalf of all those who have received food – we would like to say a very big thank you to all who donated. Your generosity has made a real difference.
