Shoreham Wordfest 2016
Ropetackle is delighted to support Shoreham’s sixth annual festival of words – Shoreham Wordfest – running from Saturday 1st to Sunday 9th October 2016. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘A Fine Frenzy’ and will feature local luminaries, national authors, and international performers.
Lined up is a fine frenzy of wordy events: Sussex sea shanties, jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth singing Shakespeare, original drama from Janet Behan and Hoi-Polloi’s Shôn Dale-Jones, a thought-provoking seminar with journalist Oggy Boytchev, Shakespearean sketches from the Guardian’s John Crace and author John Sutherland, plus a lunchtime talk with Wordfest patron Simon Brett.
Add to this a feast of exciting new writing workshops, walks, talks, children’s theatre, and the opportunity to star in the annual short story and poetry slam hosted by Tom Cutler. Shoreham Wordfest is shaping up to be an unmissable celebration of words this October.

“The poet’s eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, doth glance from heaven to Earth, from Earth to heaven; and as imagination bodies forth the forms of things unknown, the poet’s pen turns them to shape, and gives to airy nothing a local habitation and a name; such tricks hath strong imagination.”
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s, Dream Act V, Scene 1
