Friday 6th December 2013 - Starts 8pm

Kate’s Kitchen Band play music that will get you dancing! They believe in giving the audience a good time. And the ‘caller’ teaches all dances, so no prior knowledge is needed. For this show, the caller will be Tony Dunn, a veteran of ceilidh calling and well known in dance circles. And we only pick the best! English traditional music is enjoying a real revival. Acts such as Bellowhead and Seth Lakeman have broadened the appeal with new levels of high energy performance and drama.

Kate’s Kitchen Band are at the fun end of the spectrum with a line-up as eclectic as it is varied, from top end piccolo to acoustic double bass for that deep-in-the-belly underpinning. In between are melodeons (button accordion), fiddles, percussion, guitar and mandolin. Their musical heritage comes from early English, traditional dance, Morris and Celtic – a foot-tapping mixture of sounds from start to finish.

They practice and eat hot buttered toast in Kate’s kitchen, hence the name. So get down to your English roots, dance the night away and share our mince pies to get into the Christmas mood!

This evening will also feature special guest Louise Almeida, a brilliant and highly entertaining jazz singer.
