About Ropetackle Arts Centre
Ropetackle Arts Centre is a purpose built community-run arts venue that attracts some of the biggest and best performing arts events in the UK. Situated in the heart of Shoreham, West Sussex, our goal is to stage events for all tastes and all budgets for the good folk of Adur and beyond.
A registered charity, and staffed almost exclusively by volunteers (including our Trustees), Ropetackle Arts Centre is run by and for the local community. Friendly, welcoming, diverse and fun, we guarantee a great night out at a fair price.
Our superbly equipped auditorium performance space seats 200, or 350 standing. We have a separate mezzanine space (for small events or meetings), two well-stocked bars, plus a large light and airy foyer which houses our in-house café Thunkshop at Ropetackle.
2011 Campaign To Save Ropetackle
In 2011 we suffered a funding crisis which threatened the imminent closure of Ropetackle Arts Centre. But thanks to the amazing response we received to our ‘Save Ropetackle’ campaign we’re still here putting on fantastic shows week after week. We received hundreds of donations from people across Sussex, most of these were for £100 or over.
On behalf of all volunteers, staff and trustees at Ropetackle (who also made donations) we are extremely touched and grateful to everyone who showed such generosity.
A display board now proudly sits in the Ropetackle foyer listing all those who donated £100 or more, but thanks equally to those who donated a little less, it all helped to keep us alive.
